AC Milan have officially announced the signing of central defender Mario Gila from SS Lazio on a five-year deal. The Spanish defender will wear the number 34 shirt and has committed to the club until 30 June 2031. Gila, born in Barcelona on 29 August 2000, joined Lazio in the summer of 2022 and made 120 appearances, scoring 2 goals across four seasons.
Gila's impressive performances in Serie A and European competitions caught Milan's attention, and the club moved swiftly to secure his signature. The transfer fee is expected to be €30m including bonuses. Gila came through the youth ranks in Spain, completing his development with Real Madrid Castilla and making his First Team debut in the 2021/22 season.
The 23-year-old defender has also represented Spain at U21 level, making his official debut on 23 September 2022 and appearing in the 2023 U21 European Championship. In 2025, he received his first senior national team call-up. Milan extends a warm welcome to Mario and wishes him every personal and team success in the Rossoneri shirt.
Gila's signing bolsters Milan's defence, which struggled towards the end of last season. The club has secured a promising young defender who has already gained valuable experience in top-level competitions.
