One major innovation is the use of VAR for corner kicks, allowing for quick checks to correct errors before the game progresses. This move is expected to enhance the accuracy of refereeing decisions.

The new rules also address disciplinary issues, with VAR now able to overturn a second yellow card if deemed excessive. This change is partly inspired by incidents like Kalulu-Bastoni, highlighting the need for more precise disciplinary actions. Furthermore, players will no longer be sanctioned for speaking with their hands in front of their mouths.

Other regulations have been confirmed or introduced to speed up the game. For instance, goalkeepers and players taking lateral throws have a 5-second limit to resume play, or the opposing team will be awarded a corner kick. Medical interventions will still require a minute-long stoppage, except when a foul is penalized. Substitutions must be completed within ten seconds of the fourth official's signal.
