AC Milan's new structure is beginning to take shape under the ownership of Gerry Cardinale. The American businessman has decided against appointing external candidates to fill key management roles, instead choosing to build a team around him. This team will work closely with the coach, Paulo Amorim, to create a competitive squad. Cardinale will be directly involved in the club's operations, marking a change in strategy from previous owners.
The new structure includes Hendrik Almstadt as director of player trading, who will oversee negotiations and work closely with Amorim to identify suitable players. Bobby Gardiner has been promoted to director of Football Intelligence, where he will focus on scouting young talents across European leagues. Donato Lomonte, the longest-serving Milan director, will continue to oversee data analysis and scouting, aided by eight scouts with global coverage.
The club's objective is to strengthen the squad while keeping key players. Cardinale and Amorim believe the team has a solid foundation to compete for the Champions League, provided they make strategic additions. The likes of Mike Maignan, Adrien Rabiot, and Luka Modric are valued highly, but the club is prepared to evaluate offers for players who may request transfers.
With the new structure in place, Milan can now focus on the transfer market, both incoming and outgoing. The club's leadership, including Paolo Scaroni as president and Massimo Calvelli as CEO, will work in tandem with RedBird's investment team, led by David Castelblanco, to drive the club forward.
