Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim has agreed to become AC Milan's new head coach, replacing Massimiliano Allegri. He will sign a two-year contract with an option for a third year. Amorim's arrival marks a significant change for Milan, who finished fifth in Serie A last season. The club has also seen a number of senior staff members depart.
Amorim's move to Milan will have financial implications for Manchester United, who had dismissed him in January and were liable to pay a £16.7m compensation package. With Amorim back in work, United will no longer be required to pay the full amount. Milan is undergoing a major overhaul, with Nottingham Forest's chief scout Pedro Ferreira targeted to join Amorim's coaching staff.
The club has cleared out several senior members of staff, including sporting director Igli Tare, chief executive Giorgio Furlani, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada. Amorim's task will be to turn things around at Milan, who failed to qualify for the Champions League last season.
Amorim's experience and tactical acumen will be crucial in helping Milan get back on track. The club's fans will be eager to see the team's progress under their new coach.
