Unfortunately, Alexis Saelemaekers suffered an injury on Tuesday at Milanello but he won’t be hurried back for AC Milan.

It seemed Saelemaekers was being primed for a starting role in next weekend’s game against Sassuolo. Indeed, the Belgian would be one of the better options after staying at Milanello this week and Ruben Amorim seemed keen to give him another chance.

But, as the club confirmed to us , the winger suffered an ankle sprain at Milanello as the team returned to training. It certainly could have been worse, with bone and ligament damage being avoided, but that’s not what matters.

Amorim’s plan for Saelemaekers

Despite hopes of starting him against the Neroverdi, Amorim won’t rush the Belgian back, according to Calciomercato.com . Instead, it seems that ‘in all likelihood’, he might not even be there.

Of course, it all depends on his recovery and he’ll be monitored day by day. But Amorim has zero interest in rushing him back and potentially aggravating the injury.
