Ruben Amorim’s decision to exclude several players this summer was a bold call, but AC Milan better off for it?

The ‘bomb squad’ was much talked about during Amorim’s tenure at Manchester United as he told Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, Sancho and Malacia that they were not a part of his plans, trying to accelerate their exit.

Early in his tenure at Milan, it seemed as though the Portuguese was more inclined to give everyone a chance rather than kick anyone out. However, he soon sent Christopher Nkunku, Santiago Gimenez, Youssouf Fofana and Fikayo Tomori away, to the surprise of many given the fees paid to get them.

Warren Bondo was another player that was told that he was not needed and things got messy on that front, with legal action reportedly threatened by his agents. Then there was the Tomori saga: he didn’t find a club, Milan didn’t sign another centre-back, so he was reinstated eventually .
