AC Milan have agreed a deal to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The Portuguese tactician will sign a two-year contract with the option of a third year. His base salary will be €3.5 million, with potential earnings of up to €1m in bonuses.

Amorim's bonus structure includes €500k for achieving Champions League qualification and a further €500k if he wins the Scudetto. The 49-year-old former Manchester United boss becomes the latest addition to Milan's backroom staff.

The club moved swiftly to secure Amorim's services after he emerged as a serious contender for the job late last week. Amorim's appointment brings an end to a three-week period without a clear managerial structure at Milan.

Amorim's success at Sporting CP caught the eye of Milan's hierarchy, who are eager to see him implement his high-intensity pressing game at the San Siro. With a talented young squad at his disposal, Amorim will be expected to challenge for major honors from the off.
