AC Milan have been linked with a move for Barcelona defender Gerard Martin, but according to Matteo Moretto, the player wants to stay at Barcelona. Moretto stated that as of today, there is nothing between Milan and Martin, and the player's desire is to remain at Barcelona. The Rossoneri hierarchy had been rumored to be preparing an offer of €35m for the defender. Martin has even earned a Paolo Maldini-inspired nickname,
Ruben Amorim's tactical approach requires central defenders to be comfortable on the ball, which may explain why Milan are still in the market for another centre-back despite signing Mario Gila from Lazio. Moretto also mentioned that Hansi Flick does not want Martin to leave Barcelona.
Moretto's comments were made in a video published on Fabrizio Romano's YouTube channel, in which he also stated that if a significant offer arrives, the club might consider it, but as of today, the intention is for Gerard Martin to stay at Barça. Both parties are fully committed to extending the player's contract, which expires in 2028.
The links with Martin resurfaced over the weekend, with Catalan source El Nacional reporting on the potential offer from Milan. However, it seems that Martin's priority is to stay at Barcelona and extend his contract, rather than making a move to the San Siro.
