AC Milan are accelerating their pursuit of Spanish defender Mario Gila, currently with Lazio. The Italian club are eager to finalize the deal, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito is firm on his valuation of 30 million euros, inclusive of bonuses. This price is partly due to the need to maximize profit, considering Real Madrid holds a 50% resale right on Gila.

To break the impasse, Milan's management is working on including young Lazio defender Lorenzo Calvani in the deal. Calvani, born in 2008, is a promising talent and his inclusion could bring more liquidity to Lazio's coffers, enabling Milan to lower the fixed transfer fee for Gila, making the operation more economically viable.

Gila has already reached a preliminary agreement with Milan, which includes a five-year contract with an annual salary of 4.5 million euros plus bonuses. The club is optimistic about reaching a definitive agreement soon, given the player's clear desire to join Milan.

The signing of Gila is part of Milan's broader squad strengthening plan under coach Ruben Amorim, who sees the former Real Madrid player as the ideal addition to bolster the defense ahead of the next season.
