AC Milan are trying to plan how the midfield of the future will look, and the ideal replacement for Luka Modric has been identified.
Corriere dello Sport (via MN24) begin a report this morning by stating that sooner or later Milan will have to deal with the departure of Luka Modric. The Croatian continues to be a key figure for Ruben Amorim’s team even at 41, but he is only under contract until the end of the season.

For this reason, the management have understandably already begun evaluating profiles to replace him, even abroad. Among these, Alex Scott stands out, an English midfielder currently playing for Bournemouth.
The perfect replacement
According to the newspaper, the England international has become one of Milan’s main targets as they plan to move forward without Modric.
Scott’s characteristics would fit the profile identified by the club as he ticks a lot of boxes: he is a young, dynamic and technically gifted player, capable of ensuring intensity and quality in the build-up phase.
He is a profile that could integrate into Amorim’s tactical system, playing either in the midfield double pivot or a bit deeper as a regista in the event of formation changes, offering the Rossoneri an important solution for the future.
The main obstacle remains financial. Bournemouth have reportedly set a value of close to €50m to let their midfielder leave. Given that Milan spent €75m on Goncalo Ramos and over €50m on Diego Moreira, they might well test the waters with a bid.
However, the Rossoneri will also have to battle serious competition, as various sources have spoken of Arsenal and Chelsea pursuing the Englishman with interest. Much will also depend on Modric’s intentions, as for now he prefers to focus on the present without making decisions about his future.
Milan want to move quickly, avoiding having to search for a last-minute replacement. Scott represents one of the most interesting options , even though no definitive agreements have been reached at the moment.
