AC Milan had high hopes of appointing Markus Krösche as their new Head of Football, but the deal has fallen through. The Rossoneri had reportedly offered Krösche a salary of €10m per year, double the highest player salary, and a transfer budget of €700m over the next few years. This enticing offer gave Krösche carte blanche to build a new Milan team, but ultimately, he couldn't reconcile with the idea of leaving Eintracht Frankfurt.
Krösche's role at Frankfurt and his frustration with Italian newspapers suggesting an agreement had been reached when it hadn't, played a significant part in his decision. Milan had identified Krösche as the perfect man to lead their new project, and his departure would have seen Timmo Hardung join him. However, Frankfurt's resistance to the deal, even with compensation offered, proved too great for Krösche to overcome.
The failed pursuit of Krösche is a significant blow to Milan, who had high hopes of bolstering their front office with the experienced director. With Krösche staying put, Milan will need to look elsewhere for their new Head of Football.
The Rossoneri's ambitious plans, including a hefty transfer budget, had made Krösche an attractive proposition, but ultimately, his ties to Frankfurt proved too strong.
