AC Milan are on the verge of appointing Ruben Amorim as their new manager. The Portuguese coach has agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a third year, worth 3.5 million euros net per season plus bonuses. Amorim's arrival is subject to him completing a medical and finalizing the contract.

Amorim was let go by Manchester United in January and was expected to take a sabbatical. However, the opportunity to join AC Milan, a team he has always dreamed of managing, proved too enticing to resist. The 38-year-old former Sporting Lisbon boss is expected to arrive in Italy soon to finalize the deal.

The deal was secured after Amorim beat off competition from Matthias Jaissle, who is currently in charge at Al Ahli. Jaissle's club would have demanded a significant compensation fee to release him, whereas Amorim was available as a free agent.

Amorim's appointment is a significant coup for AC Milan, who have been searching for a new manager. The club's hierarchy is understood to be thrilled with the prospect of working with the highly-rated Portuguese coach.
