AC Milan are on the verge of confirming Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. The Portuguese tactician is expected to sign a two-year contract, with an option to extend his stay until 2029. Amorim's appointment appears to be the most straightforward choice among the candidates considered by the Rossoneri. His previous club, Sporting CP, will receive a significant compensation for his departure.
Amorim's path to Milan was reportedly smoother than that of other contenders, such as Oliver Glasner and Jaissle, who are tied to their current clubs with hefty release clauses. The 39-year-old Portuguese coach had been sacked by Sporting CP in January but chose to wait for the Milan opportunity, turning down other proposals, including one from Benfica.
Contrary to recent speculation, Glasner was never close to joining Milan. The Austrian coach had discussions with the Rossoneri but there have been no further contacts since their meeting in Monaco. A similar situation arose with Jaissle, who had not received any updates on a potential deal as of this morning.
The confirmation of Amorim's appointment is expected to be finalized soon, with the exchange of documents between the clubs being completed by their respective lawyers.
