Ruben Amorim's words were not only those of a coach satisfied with his experience at Milan. They were, above all, a declaration of intent. A clear message to the squad, the club and also the Milan fans: Milan must start winning again, but must do it by building something that can last over time. Two objectives that may seem difficult to reconcile, but that exactly represent the most important challenge of the new Milan project.
In the interview granted to DAZN, the Portuguese coach recounted his bond with the club, defended Gonçalo Ramos, promoted the market strategies and, above all, explained what the team's mentality must be. Words that take on an even more important meaning considering the moment of the season: the first long break is now behind us and at the restart of the league Milan will be called to give continuity to its project.
Milan, Amorim does not look for alibis: winning every match must become a habit
There is a sentence, among those spoken by the former Manchester United coach, that perfectly captures his philosophy: “Winning every match: this is the mentality we have. In the end we will settle the scores.”
Few words, but particularly significant. Amorim does not want to hide behind a long‑term project, nor use the need to build a new identity as an excuse for possible negative results. Milan must grow, certainly, but in the meantime it must also win points, compete and prove it is up to its ambitions.
And it is precisely here that the first real turning point of the season is found. At the league restart, encouraging signals or good performances will no longer be enough. Concrete results, accompanied by a recognizable style of play, will be required.
Because a team that wants to return steadily to the top cannot afford to continuously postpone the moment of the breakthrough.
