Gerry Cardinale is working to insert a new sporting director into Milan's organisational chart. The red‑and‑black patron, as reported by Corriere dello Sport, is personally carrying out the casting to identify the executive who will be in charge of market strategies and work closely with Rúben Amorim.
The goal is to reach a decision in a timely manner to allow the new market man to settle in and start planning the next winter transfer window.
Milan, Benatia enters Cardinale's list
Among the profiles being considered is also Mehdi Benatia, former sporting director of Marseille. According to the Roman newspaper, in recent days there was contact with the former defender, who would therefore have entered the list of possible candidates.
He would not be the only name being considered by the red‑and‑black ownership.
Boto and Tiago Pinto know Amorim
In Milan's casting, Boto, currently at Flamengo, and Tiago Pinto, now at Bournemouth, are also listed. The two Portuguese executives could have an advantage in the race precisely because of their direct knowledge of Amorim and his way of working.
Cardinale's choice will therefore be decisive in defining the new structure of Milan's sporting area, with the future director set to become a reference point also in upcoming market strategies.
