The red‑and‑black winger had suffered a low‑grade strain of the medial collateral ligament of his left knee, raising some concerns ahead of the league’s resumption. The recovery, however, proceeded without major setbacks and Estupinan has been called up for the trip to Emilia.
Estupinan starter in Amorim’s new Milan
The most important news concerns his role: according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Estupinan will start from the first minute in Amorim’s new 4‑4‑1‑1 formation, playing as left‑back.
The Colombian’s recovery is therefore good news for the Portuguese coach, who will have to manage a particularly tight calendar in the coming weeks.
In a press conference, Amorim explained that he used the break to work on new solutions and received positive feedback from players involved with their national teams. He mentioned Gonçalo Ramos, Ardon Jashari and Diego Moreira, noting that the latter has played both on the right and left.
Now the focus shifts to the pitch: against Sassuolo, Estupinan is ready to return to the starting lineup after the physical issue he suffered during the pause.
