Samuel Chukwueze has found a new lease of life at AC Milan, and now the club could reward him with a new contract.

The star of Milan’s start to the season is Alphadjo Cisse, given he has scored twice in the opening three games. However, there’s another player who’s making a name for himself in a role that isn’t typically his natural one, right wing-back, and that man is Chukwueze.

He returned this summer from his loan spell at Fulham and was kept in the squad by Ruben Amorim, who had high praise for the Nigerian right from his presentation press conference.

New role, new deal?

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews ) write this morning, the former Villarreal star is comfortable in his new position, as evidenced by his two assists in his first three Serie A games. The first was against Torino for Adrien Rabiot’s goal, and the second was last Sunday against Juventus for Cisse’s opener.

In addition to these two crucial passes, Chukwueze has shown many other positive aspects, including a very attentive defensive phase. After a few seasons of mixed results between Milan and Fulham, the 27-year-old seems to finally be carving out a leading role .

Chukwueze wants to convince Amorim and Milan both now and in the future. With his recent rise, it’s no coincidence that in the coming weeks, contacts are expected between the AC Milan management and his agents to discuss the possible renewal of his contract, which expires in 2028.

The shared desire appears to be to move forward together, and for this reason, they will attempt to lay the foundations for a longer partnership. The idea is to extend the contract until 2031.

Negotiations for the renewal have yet to begin, however: for now, ‘Chuku’ must only focus on the pitch and following up on his excellent start to the season.
