Today, Friday 28 August, the draw of the League Phase (Championship Phase) of the Europa League 2026-2027 is scheduled in Monte Carlo. The format is the same as the two previous editions, the first played with the new format: 36 participants, divided into 4 pots, with a single ranking that will determine the teams that go directly to the round of 16; those that will have to go through the playoffs to qualify and those that will be eliminated. Here is everything there is to know about the Europa League draw, a competition in which, for our country, Juventus coached by Luciano Spalletti and Milan coached by Rúben Amorim will take part.

How the League Phase draw works

As we have seen in the two previous editions, the Europa League will be structured with the single group format introduced in the 2024-2025 season. The 36 participating teams will be divided into four pots based on their coefficient: starting from the first pot (which also includes Juventus and Milan) and then, with the manual drawing of balls, the teams will be paired by an automated software with their eight respective opponents. The same procedure will be repeated for the other clubs until all pairings are drawn. The participants will be placed in a single ranking and will give rise to the League Phase.
