After saying goodbye to the red and black colours, Youssouf Fofana's adventure in Spain has officially begun. The French midfielder signed for Sevilla in the final moments of the summer transfer window, moving to Andalusia on loan with an option to buy after finding himself on the margins of Ruben Amorim's technical project.

In a press conference, the 1999-born player recounted the frantic hours that led to the completion of the deal, acknowledging the initial difficulties but showing great enthusiasm for the new stage of his career:

"For me it was a somewhat crazy day. It started in a somewhat chaotic way, but in the end I am very happy to be here. I think it was the best choice for me. I thought about the club's history, about what is happening right now and I wanted to be part of Sevilla's revival, to bring it back to where it has been in recent years."

Between tactical idols, advice from former teammates and impact with the new stadium

Analyzing his own characteristics and playing style, the former Milan midfielder highlighted his versatility in midfield and the models that inspire him for the role:

"I am a player who adapts quite well to difficulties and to the opponent in front of me. I also like to help my teammates on the pitch. I like being a solution for everyone. I do not have a single idol. I watch a bit the midfielders of my generation and I like a part of every player. We could say Busquets for the way he positions himself on the field and Yaya Touré for how powerful he is. I like a part of every midfielder, but there is no player who resembles me."

Before signing, the midfielder consulted some well‑known faces of French football who know the Andalusian environment well, starting with Lucien Agoumé and Wissam Ben Yedder:

"I was lucky to talk very early on the phone with Lucien. He welcomed me and warned me that it is very hot here. He told me the team is doing well and that I would adapt quickly. With Ben Yedder we talked at length about the city and the league. For him it was very positive to play here because he is very good with the ball."

In closing, Fofana revealed the personal goal he intends to pursue with the new shirt, speaking warmly about the famous atmosphere of the Ramón Sánchez‑Pizjuán:

"What I expect above all is to be able to regain the pleasure of playing. Nothing else. I came here to serve the team and, if they need me, I am there. I have the feeling that the stadium is like a pot that is boiling. Little by little the pressure rises and, honestly, I can’t wait to discover it. I want to tell the fans that I am very happy to be here. See you soon."
