When Mario Gila was first linked to AC Milan a few years ago, there was a lot of positivity about his potential arrival. Fans had to wait, but that positivity has now been proven right.

In recent years, Milan have often looked at players for a while before making moves for them. Samuele Ricci is one example of that; even Goncalo Ramos is and Gila is also in that category. It’s certainly not been a case of see and act immediately every time.

The reaction to the Gila links has always been positive too . A strong Serie A defender who would help improve the backline, he has always drawn fans. So, when the Rossoneri made the move this summer, it seemed like it would be a good move.

Now, it doesn’t seem like a good move; it is one.

Gila dominates already

Gazzetta dello Sport, via MilanPress , writes that he is ‘already dominating San Siro’ and has made everyone his fan. The Diavolo cannot do without him in defence and there are several reasons for this.

Whether it’s his speed, courage and capability in 1v1s or his passing range. Perhaps its his versatility to act in a three and four man defence, even to be versatile during games, changing defence to attack.

He plays well everywhere and Ruben Amorim sees him as a constant in the team. It’s difficult to see a reason for him not to be a constant.
