An ignoble act has shaken the red-and-black world in recent hours: the mural dedicated to Franco Baresi, legendary Milan captain, located in front of the club headquarters on Via Aldo Rossi in Milan, was heavily damaged and vandalized. The perpetrators covered the face of the iconic number 6 with red paint, obscured the historic 'Cuore' sponsor at the centre of the shirt and erased both the artist's signature and the famous inscription 'You'll never walk alone'. A vile gesture that deeply hurt the sensitivity of Milan supporters and on which the club wants total clarity.

What happened is an unacceptable shame, said also the mural's creator, known on social media as "Lucas.streetart", who expressed his bitterness: "Seeing my work so damaged brings me enormous sorrow. Not for what I created but for the person it represented and for all the people who were moved by it."

With Arrivo Sacchi first and Fabio Capello later on the bench, Baresi, with the captain's armband always firmly on his arm, had led the Devil to a true global dominance between the late eighties and the mid-nineties. Such an impact that the red-and-black club decided to retire forever the number 6 shirt he wore, immediately after his retirement from playing in 1997.
