This afternoon, a report has emerged stating that Mario Gila has returned to Italy, leaving his AC Milan teammates on their pre-season tour.

It has certainly not been the summer that Gila would’ve hoped for so far. He was injured against Celtic and since then, he has not been involved with the team. Whilst he has been able to learn about them off the field, it has derailed his hopes for the first few weeks with his new club.

Gila returns to Italy

Reporting on X, Antonio Vitiello stated that Gila has now returned to Milan to recover from his injury, ruling him out of the rest of the pre-season tour. Of course, he picked up the issue against Celtic, and it seemed he may have been getting closer to returning to the squad.

He has not been alone in returning to Italy, too. Indeed, Andrej Kostic, Lorenzo Ossola, Emanuele Borsani, and Aurelien Guernier have also headed back, perhaps to join the Futuro in their preparation for the new season or maybe even to get loan moves going .

Either way, it seems Ruben Amorim is now choosing to focus on the players who he will have available for pre-season.
