Speaking after the Coppa Italia defeat, Barquero, coach of Milan Futuro, wanted to analyse the match.
Milan Futuro's campaign opens with a setback in terms of result, but full of points to grow during the season. In the first round of the Coppa Italia Serie D, the side led by Sergio Navarro Barquero was beaten 3-1 by Sant'Angelo, suffering immediate elimination from the competition.
Milan, Navarro analyses the defeat
Despite the scoreline, the performance showed flashes of very good play and very interesting tactical ideas, but also naivety due to the young age of the squad. In the post‑match the red‑and‑black coach analysed the match with great clarity on the club’s official channels, highlighting the value of the mistake: "We are certainly not happy, because losing does not please anyone. I think however that this match will teach us a lot. In many moments we played well, but we must continue to improve. Today we lived a hard experience, but it is fine: thanks to our opponents we understood that there are certain concepts we still have to learn properly and this will help us for the future."
For now, however, the past is already behind us and there is no time to wallow. The calendar indeed puts a big international‑level test in front of the reds straight away. On Wednesday 2 September at 20:00 the young reds will fly to England to face Everton in the first match of the International Cup under‑21. Instead, on Sunday 6 September the debut against Caldiero Terme is scheduled on the pitch of the Felice Chinetti stadium in Solbiate Arno for the first day of Serie D.
