The summer transfer window is officially over, and for AC Milan they are putting a lot on the shoulders of Goncalo Ramos.

To the joy of many coaches, the transfer market has concluded. The period of uncertainty and unfinished squads is over, and one of the positives for Milan was that they finally welcomed a ‘top tier’ striker, or hopefully at least.

The record-breaker

The fact that Milan signed him right at the start of the transfer window increased his price tag, but Milan desperately needed a strong striker. This is what Gerry Cardinale, Ruben Amorim and all the fans are asking of their new man.

It will not be easy for the 25-year-old, who arrived in the city also knowing he is the most expensive player in Milan’s history. Never before has so much (€74m) been spent on a single player. Ramos, though, has already acquired a good deal of experience and has done so in the strongest team in the world.

This wealth of experience was immediately evident in his first match at San Siro. Despite a first half in which he missed chances, Ramos responded with a second half of great mentality, finding the goal that opened both his own account and the match.

It was a true centre-forward’s goal but above all an attitude that also earned him the praise of Amorim. After all, despite playing little in Paris, Ramos was a man who scored goals when he was on the pitch.

The ex‑Benfica man scored 45 goals in his three seasons in France from 2023 to 2026, recording the best goals‑per‑minute average in the league for players who had played in at least 50 games. With even more time on his hands, with Milan, those numbers could rise.
