Speaking to SkySport microphones, Mauricio Pochettino wanted to say a few words about Milan's summer interest.

Among the many names examined by Gerry Cardinale and the Rossoneri management during the summer casting for the Milan bench, Mauricio Pochettino, current United States head coach, was also considered. Speaking to SkySport microphones, the coach wanted to clarify the rumours that had linked him to the devil's bench, explaining why the deal never took off.

Milan, Pochettino on the Rossoneri interest: "Never..."

Pochettino confirmed interest from several European clubs, including Milan, but reiterated his desire to stay focused on his role leading the national team: “Milan? During the World Cup we were not available to talk with the various clubs that were interested. Were there any? Yes, always. I always have several options. We never gave the opportunity to get close. We always closed the door before it got to the point.”

A clear stance that effectively blocked any possible approach by the American Rossoneri ownership, prompting the Via Aldo Rossi management to turn to other profiles.

During the interview the Argentine coach also devoted a passage to his past at Tottenham, a club to which he remains deeply attached and where he does not rule out returning one day, while denying recent contacts:

“I always say: one day, why not? If that possibility ever existed? People talk about it and perhaps we receive some proposals, but we have never been close to an agreement.”
