After many years Leonardo Bonucci reflects on one of the most debated decisions of his playing career: the sensational and unexpected move from Juventus to Milan in the summer of 2017. The former Juventus defender, now part of the technical staff of the national team led by Roberto Mancini, chose to tell his story in an interview released on the social channels of Alessandro Lucci’s World Soccer Agency.

Milan, hear Bonucci

During the conversation Bonucci also revealed an interesting market detail that preceded his Milan transfer. Already a year earlier, the defender could have left Serie A to join the Premier League at Manchester City under Guardiola.

Arriving in Milan in the summer of 2017 for a fee of 42 million euros, strongly wanted by the new Chinese ownership that arrived after the Berlusconi era, Bonucci was immediately given huge responsibilities: the defender was designated captain of the team, wearing the armband from his official debut in the victory secured in the first leg of the Europa League play‑offs against Škendija.
