Last season didn’t end well for AC Milan, with them failing to maintain a spot in the Champions League places.
Throughout most of last season, Milan looked like a nailed-on pick for Champions League football this season. However, they let it slip right at the end. A bad run of form somehow wasn’t enough for them to avoid a top four spot, but in the final games, they did enough to avoid one.

It remains a frustration for many, but it kick-started a chain reaction of changes at the club. Maybe it wasn’t the worst thing after all…
Gabbia’s admission
Speaking to DAZN earlier today , Gabbia covered a range of different topics, but there was an interesting comment about the Champions League and the squad’s failure to qualify for it.
Who are the rivals for the Champions League?
“There are many well-equipped teams. But we have to be humble, think only of ourselves, and remember how recent seasons have gone, especially last year, when we played so many good games. But then we need clarity, consistency, and professionalism until the end.
We have to work hard and be eager to do our best every day. Then, game after game, we’ll see where we stand. Milan’s goal is to win every game, not every Sunday and Thursday.”
It is clear that recent seasons have not been good enough and whilst progress was seen over the last 12 months, it was almost completely undone in the final months of last season. In other words, the blueprint for Ruben Amorim is there.
With clarity, consistency and professionalism, Gabbia believes that the side should return to where they belong: the Champions League. Considering how many problems there were on and off the pitch at the end of last season, it’s no surprise that it’s now been voiced, especially by Gabbia.
One thing is clear, though, it cannot happen again .
