A heartbreaking day for the Milan world: we have lost, at the age of 50, Gabriele Sabatini, coach and former player who grew up within Milan's youth sector. After a long illness that in recent weeks forced him to be hospitalized in Pisa, he passed away yesterday.

Milan, a former promise has died

He entered Milan's youth sector at 14, Sabatini managed to reach the Primavera. At the time, the youngster was considered a very interesting talent, even wearing the Primavera national team shirt.

During those years he shared his football path with players such as Alessandro Nesta and Francesco Totti. His dream of reaching Serie A, however, was halted by a serious ankle injury. From then on, Sabatini continued his career wearing the shirts of Castelnuovo Garfagnana, Barberino, Pisa, Viterbese, Tempio, Cuneo, Canavese and Valle d’Aosta.

Once he hung up his boots, Sabatini decided to stay in football, becoming a coach, leading clubs such as MagraAzzurri, Ligorna, Fezzanese, Colli di Luni, Tarros Sarzanese, Pontremolese and Santerenzina.
