AC Milan recorded their first opening game win since 2023 as they beat Torino on Sunday night away from home.

After a goalless first half spent mostly on top, Milan scored twice inside three minutes through Alphadjo Cisse and Adrien Rabiot to break the game open. It would prove to be enough to secure a win at a ground they had won just two of their previous 13 league games at.

Che Adams scored a goal of the month contender in the final minute of injury time to take away the clean sheet, but the Rossoneri nevertheless deserved all three points, and there were plenty of positives to take.

The fantastic CompMilano have put together a couple of highlights reels, starting with Samuel Chukwueze’s performance. He got the start at right wing-back once again, registering an assist and getting a 7 out of 10 in our player rating s.

“He could have been more effective in the first half, but at least he made things happen! I much prefer that rather than a player who hides. Besides, he got to ‘make up’ for some of the previous crosses with a fantastic one for Rabiot’s goal. There were also a couple of good tracking-back moments.”

They also put together a package of some ‘AmorimBall’ in full flow. The coach got a 7 from us too: “It was a rather comfortable game for Milan and that is a rare statement for them when facing Torino away from home. In other words, the game plan was very good even if more could have been done in the first half, but that was more so the players’ fault and not his. Really good start.”

Yunus Musah did a good job in midfield (6.5): “Many were worried about him starting, but he did more than fine. Not only did he put in a great shift, winning the ball back and covering spaces, but he also showed off with some good turns in possession as well as some nice passes to switch the play.”

Finally, the debutant Alphadjo Cisse (7): “The first half was a bit so-so from the youngster as he missed two chances, even if they weren’t the easiest ones, while he also struggled on the ball a few times. However, the way he broke the deadlock deserves a lot of praise, not going hell for leather but instead placing it into the top-right corner. Really encouraging.”
