Luka Modric looks ahead and sends a message to Milan: the desire to compete remains intact. The Croatian midfielder spoke during the Gran Galà del Calcio, held at La Scala in Milan, when receiving the award that places him among the best midfielders of the 2025-2026 season.

The ceremony, organised by the Italian Footballers' Association in collaboration with the Serie A League, celebrates the protagonists of the championship through votes cast directly by the players. The award was accompanied, for Modric, by words that combine satisfaction and the desire to improve.

Modric, the message to Milan: "I work to be at this level"

The Croatian reiterated that he has approached the Italian experience with conviction, aware of the difficulties but confident in his ability to be competitive. These were the statements he delivered on stage:

PAROLE, "I work to be at this level, I would not have come here if I had not thought I could compete. I have great respect for Italian football, I quickly understood how difficult Italian football is, but I had a lot of fun last year and I hope this year can be even better for me and for Milan".

Modric does not see the recognition as an endpoint. In his speech the desire to continue the first Milan season stands out, linking personal ambitions with those of the team.

Modric and Serie A: "Competitiveness is the most beautiful thing"

The midfielder then highlighted what he appreciates most about the Italian league, focusing on the competition and the appeal of rivalries:

PAROLE, "The competitiveness of the league is the most beautiful thing, there are many derbies and I think this is the best thing in Italy".

A sign of respect for Serie A, but also a signal of involvement that goes beyond the just‑received award. For Modric, the next challenge has already begun: to try to live an even more satisfying season with Milan.
