Carlo Pellegatti has made a plea to Luka Modric to stay with AC Milan for another year on one condition that can be achieved this season.

It seems likely that this will be Modric’s last season of professional football. He was considering stopping his duties with the national team and it was the project that gave him a reason to renew with Milan with a feeling of unfinished business.

His desire has been clear; he wants to lift a trophy with the Rossoneri this year and believes it is possible. However, there are already pleas for him to do another year.

Pellegatti’s Modric plea

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pellegatti looked at Modric’s future and stated that he ‘didn’t care’ about how the Rossoneri were to get there, but if they played Champions League football next season, he wanted Modric to be there, as MilanNews relays.

"The Seville crowd stood up to applaud Modric in Spain-Croatia. I, yes, maybe others less so, am aware of the charisma, importance, and joy of having a great player like Modric in the AC Milan shirt.

"I would like AC Milan to win something with him, because AC Milan deserves to honour Modric, and Modric deserves to be honoured by AC Milan. I would be sad if he ended his career without one last spark.

"Let me put it this way: I don’t care if Milan were to reach the Champions League in first, second, third, or fourth place. I really hope, for Modric’s career, and maybe he doesn’t agree, but he doesn’t seem tired at all, even yesterday he pulled off a couple of extraordinary feints, that the god of time wouldn’t be so cruel to these champions.

"These champions should be spared the passing of time, because they’ve provided so much joy and emotion that they don’t deserve to leave our eyes and hearts. Well, if Milan were to reach the Champions League, I hope someone would talk to Modric.

"If he were to play at the level he’s been playing this season, where he’s been playing well, not at a blistering pace, but well, because as Liedholm said, it’s not a matter of pace: a champion doesn’t sweat, he makes the ball sweat, then Luka Modric will make the ball sweat.

"I hope Luka Modrić can be convinced to play another year for AC Milan. I’d like his season to end well, just like it did for so many great players who played for AC Milan even though they were no longer very young. I truly hope so."

If there’s no silverware this season, but Ruben Amorim’s system shows potential to achieve one next season, could there be a chance ?
