What holds Milan back? From Amorim's management to a doubt about Ramos

In good or in bad it is his stop. Goncalo Ramos is one of the most discussed men between Milan and Portugal, especially after the 74 million euros invested in the summer by the red‑black club, which made him the highest paid player in the entire history of the devil. The start of the season has not been so negative regarding performances, but the problem remains only one: the goal.

Milan, the Ramos dilemma

Ramos however found an important answer with the national team shirt. Against Norway, in Oslo, the striker exploited an error by Nyland and with a lob scored the 2‑1 goal, collecting the 12th in 29 appearances with Portugal. A heavy net also because it came thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's bench.

In the previous match against Wales, Jorge Jesus had started the Lisbon giant, substituting him at the 67th minute of play precisely with Ramos. Against Norway, instead, the coach decided to make the opposite choice: Ramos starter, Ronaldo on the bench, for all 90 minutes.

A decision that fed the debate. From “Ramos must play more” to “How can Ronaldo be left out the whole match?”. The young red‑black's goal, however, strengthened his name.

Now, Jorge Jesus will have to decide who to field against Denmark. One possibility is to see Ramos and Cristiano Ronaldo together, with Joao Felix sacrificed. A very interesting solution, also considering that CR7 has scored in the two previous matches.

Ramos, now, as now, finds himself at the centre of a real double exam. Milan must turn movements into goals, with Portugal having to carve space in a national team where CR7's presence continues to have a specific weight, despite the 41 years of age.
