A gesture that left the Milan world speechless. The mural dedicated to Franco Baresi in front of the Casa Milan headquarters was defaced by vandals, who damaged the work created to celebrate one of the greatest symbols of the club’s history.

According to Sport Mediaset, the painting was ruined with spray-paint marks on the former captain’s face, on the historic number 6 and with several abrasions along the structure. The incident was reported by municipal councilor Alessandro Giungi in a post on his social media channels.

The vandalism occurred less than two months after Baresi’s death, who passed away on 31 July at the age of 66. It is a wound for Milan supporters, who have always regarded the former defender as one of the most representative figures in the club’s history.

Baresi wore the red-black shirt for 20 years, becoming captain for 15 seasons and leading Milan to an extraordinary series of national and international successes. His name is linked to the great victories of the modern era of the club and still represents a reference point for whole generations of fans.

The mural in front of Casa Milan was created precisely to keep alive the memory of a legend who devoted his entire career to the same team. The damage to the work therefore struck not only an image, but a symbol of the club’s history.
