After the horrifying news that it had been defaced, a positive update has arrived: the mural dedicated to Franco Baresi is about to be restored.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that Luca Rosada, known as Lucas Street Art, announced on social media that on Saturday (October 10th) he will restore the image of Baresi in front of Casa Milan, which was vandalised two Sundays ago .

A bigger design too

Rather than simply re-pasting it, Rosada has also taken a personal initiative: he will create a new design dedicated to the Milan captain to replace the damaged one.

What is paste-up? A street art technique in which an image, drawing, photograph, or illustration is printed on paper and then glued directly to a wall, rather than painted directly onto the surface. A product made with recycled paper that, Rosada points out, won’t damage the wall.

The new work will be different from the previous one: it will be larger, composed of multiple sheets, and will feature a smiling Baresi in red and black. Rosada will be in front of Casa Milan on Saturday morning around 9:30, for a work that will take approximately two hours.

“This defacement of the work breaks my heart for having defaced the person, for having defaced the image, for having defaced Franco Baresi,” Rosada said when the work was damaged.

The passing of Baresi over the summer is still being strongly felt by many , as is his absence from San Siro, so Lucas must be commended for his work to create a new, fitting tribute.
