After taking part in the usual press conference on the eve of Rúben Amorim, who is preparing the clash against Sassuolo (scheduled for tomorrow at 18:00), Gerry Cardinale left Milanello wearing a cap with a slogan destined to spark debate: "Make Milan Great Again".

What is needed to become great again?

The first four years of RedBird patron’s management have not delivered the hoped‑for results, featuring some rather questionable executive choices, uneven seasons and a squad that has lacked continuity. However, this year the ownership has wanted to make a turnaround by overhauling both the executive and technical organization, entrusting Amorim with the task of building an ambitious project. The question naturally arises: what does Milan really need to become great again?

One of the fundamental aspects concerns the defensive setup. During the season Amorim must find a huge balance between a three‑man defence and a four‑man defence, two solutions that offer different possibilities but require suitable pieces. The ability to alternate playing systems could indeed prove decisive, especially in October, a month packed with commitments in the league and the Europa League.

Another central theme at the Rossoneri concerns the attack, in particular the performance of Ramos. Milan has not been particularly successful in finding the net, and Ramos’s goals are decidedly too few, especially for the €75 million invested. To turn ambition into concrete results it is essential that the reference striker manages to score more consistently.

His goals, in fact, can change the face of the season, providing the team with a reliable solution in moments when the game struggles to create chances.
