In his second year wearing the Milan shirt, Koni De Winter has become one of Ruben Amorim's mainstays. The Belgian defender has indeed started every match in this early part of the season, never being substituted. Interviewed by SportMediaset, the 2002-born player described his first impressions of the new Milan project, outlining his relationship with the coach and the atmosphere within the squad.

De Winter also spoke about the tactical changes introduced by Amorim and answered a particularly curious question, comparing two champions he has trained with: Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric.

THE ENTHUSIASM BROUGHT BY AMORIM, “He brought enthusiasm, the desire to be together, to work hard together. To laugh and joke, but also to train hard, run, work for the teammate. I think it can be seen from the outside that this is a group that wants to stay together and fight for each other.”

THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COACH, “I think he is a very human manager. You can talk to him, he talks to you, he is very accessible.”

THE FOUR-MAN DEFENCE AGAINST LECCE, “It is something the manager wanted to try. I think we were also playing well with three, but the manager makes decisions to win matches. We won against Lecce and therefore I think he made the right choice.”

CRISTIANO RONALDO OR MODRIC?, “Difficult, they are different roles. But… what can I tell you? They both have a wonderful career. Cristiano is stronger at scoring goals, whereas Modric is stronger at playing the ball. That is my answer.”

De Winter's statements confirm the positive impact Amorim has had on the Milan group and the players' willingness to adapt to his tactical demands. The Belgian defender continues to be one of Milan's certainties at the start of the season, while the comparison between Ronaldo and Modric offers a curious snapshot of the two superstars' qualities.
