Inter and AC Milan have submitted to the Council the ‘economic feasibility report’ for the new stadium they plan to build.

As Calciomercato.com write, the stadium is planned to be completed in 2032 and will be worth the extraordinary sum of €2.149bn. The two teams estimate it will generate €418m in revenue per year, thanks to the stadium but also the offices, hotels and commercial spaces around it.

The major real estate transaction should generate a capital gain of €265m for the clubs. These figures will allow the two clubs to approach the Premier League and the Bundesliga in terms of revenue or earnings, or at least narrow the enormous gap that has accumulated over the last 20 years.

Optimism despite delays

The past few months have seen significant bureaucratic acceleration for the new San Siro project, led by the joint company Stadio San Siro SpA created by Inter and Milan. At the end of August, the clubs filed the final business plan for the entire real estate complex at the city hall.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 and conclude in 2031, with the inauguration targeted for the 2032 European Championship. At present, however, there is no guarantee that the new San Siro will be built in time, which has caused some worries within UEFA.

The only way forward is to move forward with the plan, following all the phases as per the law. Clearly, there are uncontrollable variations, foreseeable pitfalls to avoid, and the barrage of appeals that are destined to hit the project.

Inter and Milan are ready to present the project’s key pillars, beginning to dispel the veil of mystery and raise awareness of what will be a historic turning point. A preview of the façade of the new San Siro is scheduled for October, with preparatory work beginning on the future construction site.
