Milan, the German defender's contract with Real Madrid expires in June 2027: first contacts ahead of the January window

Milan continues to work on strengthening a defence that has appeared numerically thin at the start of this season. The name Gonçalo Inacio, already monitored during the last summer window, remains on the Rossoneri management list, but he would not be the only profile considered for January.

According to Milannews24, the club has carried out an important inquiry with the agents of Antonio Rudiger. The German defender is tied to Real Madrid by a contract valid until 30 June 2027 and his situation could become particularly interesting in the coming months.

Milan transfer market, inquiry for Rudiger

Milan would have started the first exploratory contacts with the central defender's entourage to understand possible margins of manoeuvre already during the winter market. At the moment it would be an inquiry and not an advanced-stage negotiation.

The possible arrival of Rudiger would allow Ruben Amorim to add to his back‑line a player with international experience, personality and habit of playing high‑level matches.

Milan, January decisive for the defence

The first matchdays highlighted the importance of Mario Gila, but also a certain dependence of the team on the former Lazio player. Behind him, the alternatives do not seem sufficient to face a season full of commitments.

For this reason Milan would be evaluating more possibilities. Inacio represents a younger target with growth potential, while Rudiger would guarantee immediate experience. Much will depend on Real Madrid's availability, the player's contractual demands and the Rossoneri's financial space.

The inquiry with the German's agents nevertheless confirms a priority: in January Milan wants to try to add another central defender to the squad.
